Hervey Bay agent joins @realty in booming market
Hervey Bay agent Joseph Weger has joined the team at @realty as the Fraser Coast property market hits a ten year high.
New data shows 2017 was the region’s best year for house sales since 2008. Figures from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office show 2,236 home sales (excluding apartments and townhomes) were made in the 2017 calendar year – almost 70 per cent higher than the lowest point in the ten year stretch in 2011 when 1,327 sales were recorded.
Mr Weger says he is passionate about the Fraser Coast and believes the region has great untapped potential.
“I love the Fraser Coast, and in particular Hervey Bay, as my family spent holidays here when I was a kid, and I still believe it is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen,” he said.
“The key opportunity I see for the region is the increase in the number of families and experienced professionals moving here.
“There is a perception Hervey Bay and surrounding areas are dominated by mature professionals and retirees, but the market is really attracting a range of buyers, due to its affordability.
“The average home price across the Fraser Coast is currently around $322,500 and that compares very favourably with the average $585,000 for a home on the Sunshine Coast or $675,000 needed for a property in Brisbane.
“A lot of home buyers who have been priced out of these city markets are starting to consider Hervey Bay and surrounding areas for the lifestyle opportunities – there aren’t many places left where you can potentially secure a home near the beach for around $350,000.
“I have noticed a significant increase in the number of people attending open homes, and prices are starting to move too.”
Mr Weger said he had recently made the move to @realty due to the company’s unique business model which allows him more independence.
